Welcome to the Ancient India Site. This web page is designed by Beth Kuenstling, Abbey Graham, Jordan Etringer, and Alexis Nation in the World History Class. I hope you enjoy our site! =)

In this page, we will tell you a little bit about the history of Ancient India. India is divided into two seperate civilization, the Indus, and the Aryan. The Indus Valley civilization is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. It dates back at least 5,000 years ago.

This is a picture of the housing that normal lower class India people would live in.

**Population in India is approximately 10 to 1 compared to that of the United States.
**The average temperature is 90 degrees
There are no painted walls nor covering the floors and no floors with carpeting due to the high humidity causing a lot of mold.
**Residents of rural areas rely on each other because they are in villages.
**The decoration of the home has a lot to do with religious beliefs . Something you may not believe is how the cows share the houses. Shrines (which are places to worship their gods) may be the only decoration or focal point in the house.

Picture of the plumbing/water they use.

**In India, running water and indoor plumbing just aren't a part of life.

**India pretty much has no more forest left because of the fact that fire is still the main source of heat and the main burning substance is poop.

*India's bathing routine is a bucket of warm water with a small pitcher. If there is a place inside that is available for bathing, if not community wells are used. If neither of these are availabe, the water is transported in pitchers.
* Many beds are made of woven fiber and families sleep outside when weather permits.
